James Dewitt Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla is one of the most influential Hip Hop producers of all time. Dilla was born February 7th 1974 and passed away February 10th 2006 from the disease lupus. The iconic west coast record label Stones Throw Records declared the entire month of February to be Dilla Month, and it’s been going strong for many years now.
Throughout his musical career, Dilla produced for some of the worlds greatest groups & MCs, such as: A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Common, The Pharcyde, MF DOOM, Busta Rhymes, his group Slum Village, Frank n Dank, Madlib, Phat Kat, The Roots, Guru of Gang Starr, Chino XL, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Royce Da 5’9 and many more.
