Lionize TV recently threw its hat into the ring of entertainment using a nostalgic approach that stars music videos and the artists who create them. Upon teaming up with Unlabeled Life Media and designing a platform that can reach the masses in a very cool, refreshing, yet throwback sort of way, Lionize has thrown down the gauntlet as to figuring out ways to stand out while still fitting into the new media world.
What is Lionize? They’re a free music video platform that celebrates artists at all points of professional standing. They recognize the artists for their ability to perform and nothing else. There is no gossip component to the channel and it is mutually artist and consumer-friendly. There is enough being catered to those who seek negativity. This is solely about the music and the things that touch the realm of music culture.
During a soft launch interview, Lionize TV described themselves as being, “Where Music & Talent Collide” and people were instantly intrigued. To lionize someone by definition is to; give a lot of public attention and approval to (someone); treat as a celebrity.
They want to show newer, more emerging artists the same respect and appreciation that they would a full-blown star. They feel that has not happened enough as of late and that there should be a change. It will change because the change is starting with them.
While speaking with On-Air Talent Tonya Giddins about her thoughts on the new startup and what it meant to her to take things back in this evocative way, she replied, “I am pleased to partner with Lionize.tv. This is a venture that I am excited to be a part of and I am looking forward to contributing to its vibrant community.”
One doesn’t need to have a million followers to be on the channel and honestly, it might not even help if they do, as popularity doesn’t factor into whether or not an artist makes it to air. The only factor that helps is true talent. You could be thought of as classically beautiful, but if you can’t sing or rhyme you will not even be considered for the channel. Lionize feels that too many people with actual gifts are sitting on the sidelines because the culture has migrated to a particular look or style over substance. They feel this is a negative thing that is hurting everyone in some way and they want to give an alternative to artists as a result.
According to President of Programming, Finian St. Omer II, “We were once a community who gathered around the TV to discover music, art, fashion, and the latest dance moves. Everything went dark over the last couple of decades. But now a light has begun to shine over our culture again and that light is Lionize.”
On Lionize they are recreating that nostalgic feeling missed by so many. If you grew up watching videos, live interviews and live performances by your favorite groups and acts of all genres worldwide, then you will be happy with what they’ve created there. As they did it, with you, the consumer in mind. There will be hosts through out the day, and new shows are being created to fill a void because music content is not being reported by the people who actually lived it anymore. Lionize will be bringing back the kinds of interviews and even live performances that we’ve all missed.
There are definitely newer artists blended into the mix, but the channel is super friendly to artists of all ages. They take very special consideration for the legends of all musical types. They believe legends should be treated like the stars they are.
Said Senior Vice President of Talent Relations, Keith “KL” Harrison, “I am extremely excited about the launch of Lionize TV. The culture is long overdue for a product packaged this way. We’ll be bringing back the nostalgia we once had with music video shows and mixing it with the new. I can’t wait to share with the world what we are about to give to y’all. Lionize TV is definitely where music and talent collide.”
If an artist can’t sing or rhyme then this is not a lane for them. In a world where everything is dedicated to a specific algorithm or a certain look or style, Lionize seeks to elevate those voices that move the crowd sans gimmicks or negative backstories. Less drama and more actual feeling and musical sentiment is what we think the people want. A few specific generations are being left out in the programming race and Lionize wants to give them the things they grew up watching regularly. It’s time.
With Lionize, they will get just that. And that’s a great thing for us all.
