Status The Marlboro Man, Krookid Hooks and El Da Sensei got “Too Many Styles”

TOO MANY STYLES is the new single written and performed by Status The Marlboro Man, Krookid Hooks and El Da Sensei of Artifacts. The collaboration came together at a show in a venue in Denver Colorado. What started as a casual conversation about hip-hop and culture cultivated to an underground – cult classic – boombap banger. TOO MANY STYLES celebrates the range and diversity in approach to hip-hop music. From the gritty storytelling of a streetwise pusher, to the boombastic boisterous art sprayed on an alley wall – hip-hop is the common place for so many different styles to merge.

TOO MANY STYLES is produced by Status on the Akai Mpc with traditional break beat drums and old-school horns. The vintage news anchor loop is a reminder of the early days of beats and rhymes. El Da Sensei brings the classic New Jersey flow with an effortless suaveness. Status is gruff and sarcastic while paying homage to the influences hip-hop has over the pen and paper. Meanwhile, Hooks hits the beat with punchlines and battle ready raps. Together the three emcees have created a hip-hop classic with modern overtones.

Status and Hooks have pioneered the Hardcore hip-hop scene in Colorado for over twenty years. They’ve collaborated with legends Sadat X, Son Doobie, Nine and more. El Da Sensei is from the legendary hip-hop group ARTIFACTS, hailing from New Jersey and carrying the torch for true hip-hop fans for decades.
