Following up with their second video from the “Tuned In” EP, Stay Tuned again teams with Airick Media in creating the visuals, (animation by: Krookid Hooks,) for “Each One (Extended Mix)” Ft. MC Esiah and DJ Eye-Q. Filmed as a way to honor Denver Art & Music Youth programs, the video features Lake Knight Radio, The B-Boy Factory, Youth on Record, and Youth Violence Prevention Through Art.
The long-held Hip-Hop mantra, “Each One Teach One” serves as the foundation of cultural bestowal and inheritance. Inspired by the works of the first Hip-Hop classes offered in the mid-90’s in Denver by B-Boy Fienz (LOF/NC,) Stay Tuned crafted the original version of their B-Boy-friendly jam, “Each One.” The video then served as an opportunity to shine light on Denver arts programs which adhere in some way to teaching Hip-Hop’s 4 elements, B-Boying, DJing, MCing, and Graffiti Art. Also getting some of that shine is 10-year-old MC Esiah (son of Denver Hip-Hop group Diamond Boiz member – Ze,) and Stay Tuned member Mane Rok’s 13-year-old son, DJ/Producer Eye-Q, both featured on the extended version and in the video.
Lake Knight Radio is the DJ/Production/Podcast program powered by Mile High DJ School & The Drop Radio 104.7FM. Run by the likes of Denver Hip-Hop legends DJ Chonz (RadioBums/LOF,) Acezi, and DJ Nes & Dino (both of Infinite Mindz), DJ Eye-Q is a testament to this program’s excellence.
The B-Boy Factory is one of the few B-Boy/Dance academies in the Denver area, which has always operated on the “Each One Teach One” ethos, molding champion-winning B-Boys who compete throughout the country under the tutelage of B-Boy Ian Flaws. The video features the full B-Boy Factory Youth Squad, which puts DJ AWHAT’s! 12-year-old son, C-Rok, front and center in the cypher.
The highly lauded Youth On Record program has long been a Denver music scene favorite, with Hip-Hop luminaries like Babah Fly (Bugaboo) and Kalyn (Wheelchair Sports Camp) passing on their studio and production knowledge to middle and high school-aged kids.
The Youth Violence Prevention Through Art program is currently housed at the Westwood Community Center, serving as an after school/summer program, nurturing kids through iPad/Street art lessons and productions, via the Southwest Denver Coalition and their partners.
Being able to put their own kids in front of the lens while showcasing amazing cultural educators was an honor and privilege; one that Stay Tuned wanted to make sure that people “Tuned In” for.”
