Tuesday, May 20 (Philadelphia, PA) – Roots Picnic, The Roots and Live Nation Urban are excited to announce the return of Root Picnic Con for a third year. The annual conference, which is held the day before Roots Picnic, features conversations and panels across a variety of topics such as music education, financial literacy, tech, health and wellness, and more. It’s a time to celebrate the rich, vibrant community of Philadelphia, and everyone is encouraged to attend. Roots Picnic Con kicks off at 11:30 AM on Friday, May 30th. This year’s panels, powered by Starz, Everytown for Gun Safety, SEIU, The Recording Academy, and more, will feature the star of the hit television show “BMF” Da’Vinchi, musical artist Laila!, SEIU President April Verrett, Black Music Action Coalition Co-Founder and President Willie “Prophet” Stiggers and more. There will also be a special closing keynote conversation between director, writer, and producer Malcolm D. Lee focusing on his new book, The Best Man Unfinished Business and Tarik “Black Thought” Trotter discussing his book, The Upcycled Self. Everyone who registers for the conference will have the exciting opportunity to win a copy of The Best Man Unfinished Business, which is set to be released July 1st.
The conference will kick off an incredible weekend for the city of Philadelphia. Headliners Lenny Kravitz, D’Angelo, Latto, Tems, GloRilla, Kaytranada will be joined by some of music’s hottest new talent as well as celebrating some musical milestones, including The Roots celebrating the 30th anniversary of their album Do You Want More?!!!??!

This year’s Roots Picnic will also be featuring a remarkable lineup of local food vendors providing a selection of delicious, mouth-watering local flavors for the two-day event and celebrating the diverse and exciting Philadelphia food scene. Roots Picnic continues to be one of the summer’s most highly anticipated festivals and a celebration of Philadelphia’s robust music scene.
