Education is the key to transformation. It opens doors of opportunities, enhances personal growth, and exposes individuals to new perspectives and cultures. However, not everyone has access to quality education, especially students of color in underprivileged communities. This is where non-profit organizations like I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. come in. The organization is dedicated to empowering high school youth of color by providing experiential learning, mentorship, and cultural experiences. Recently, Karmia Berry and the students of I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. paid a visit to Sway In The Morning to discuss the organization’s mission, fundraising gala, and student development. I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. understands the importance of providing real-world experiences to students, particularly those who may not have traveled outside their immediate community. The organization facilitates cultural immersion trips to places like Africa, Asia, and Europe, exposing students to the beauty, diversity, and history that exist beyond their borders. These trips also connect students with local leaders and entrepreneurs who offer valuable insights into global business and leadership opportunities. Such experiences instill confidence in students and encourage them to dream big and aim high.

Apart from cultural immersion trips, I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. is committed to helping students develop critical skills, such as public speaking, financial management, and entrepreneurship. The organization provides mentorship opportunities to connect students with professionals and entrepreneurs who share similar life experiences, creating a supportive network of like-minded individuals. These skills and experiences equip students to become innovative thinkers, problem-solvers, and leaders in their communities and beyond.

I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. is proud to have supported 200 students to date, all of whom have gone on to pursue higher education and various professional pursuits. To support the organization’s mission and continued growth, I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. is hosting its fifth fundraising gala on June 8th, 2023 in Brooklyn, NY. The gala honor Arnie Weissman (Travel Weekly), Councilwoman Danielle Browne, Arielle Corbett (The Dreamville Foundation) and Nikki A. Bethel (The Emma Bowen Foundation)
